Albert Braun, 93

Red Lake Falls - Albert Braun, 93, died on Sunday, February 9, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Braun, Albert p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 (today) at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kelliher with the Rev. Jim Lyons officiating. Gretchen Frenzel will be the organist and Lisa Braun will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Mike Braun, Ryan Brumwell, Jason Brumwell, Bob McManus, Stuart Altendorf, Ray Braun, Skip Felton and Vern Oszman. Interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Albert Ferdinand Braun was born on November 6, 1909, the son of Ferdinand and Anna (Betz) Braun in South St. Paul. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard's Cathedral in St. Paul and attended Wilson Elementary School, high school in South St. Paul and Rasmussen Business College in St. Paul.

On June 7, 1930, he married Joan Steifer in St. Bernard's Cathedral in St. Paul. Albert was a paper boy for several years in South St. Paul, worked for Northwest Buyers and Jobbers for 18 years, farmed in Cambridge-Rush City for five years and farmed in Cormant Township for 39 years.

Albert enjoyed all sports, basketball, volleyball and hockey, as well as spectator sports. He was an avid bowler and was on a bowling league for several years. Later in life, he enjoyed gardening, flowers, raising chickens, rabbits, pigeons, horses and taking care of his cows. The couple raised several foster children throughout the years. He was a member of the Grange, Farmers Union and N.F.O.

Survivors include two children, Lyle (Mary) Braun of Forest Lake and Diane (Richard) Brumwell of Red Lake Falls; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Malm of Emily; and several nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; one son, Albert; sisters, Rosie Evans and Louise Scherberth; brothers, Louie and Art; and his parents. A00003B2003FB12
