Delphine Braff, 85
Strandquist
- R. Delphine Braff, 85, died Thursday,
December 20, 2001 at Karlstad Healthcare Center in
Karlstad.
Funeral
services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday,
December 27, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in
Strandquist with Rev. David Pretty officiating.
Ellen Johnson will be the organist, and vocal duets
will be presented by Yvonne Boen and Vange Carlson.
Casketbearers will be Delphine's grandchildren,
Shane Braff-Bengtson, Melissa Braff-Bengtson,
Charles Braff-Bengtson, Krystal Braff-Bengtson,
Jessica Braff and Jeromy Braff. Interment will be
in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation
will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday,
December 26) at Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief
River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one
hour prior to services at the church.
Ramona
Delphine Wikstrom was born on February 5, 1916 in
Lincoln Township of Marshall County, the daughter
of William Christian and Sarah Katherine
(Bergstrom) Wikstrom. She was baptized and
confirmed in the Lutheran faith. When she was very
young, she moved with her family to Strandquist
where she attended school. During her later teen
years, Delphine worked at a variety of jobs before
moving to Minneapolis where she worked at Foley
Manufacturing. She remained in Minneapolis for 10
years before returning to Strandquist.
On
October 10, 1945, Delphine was united in marriage
to Virgil Charles Braff in Thief River Falls. The
couple resided on a dairy farm at rural
Strandquist. Delphine helped with their dairy
operation until 1977 when they stopped dairy
farming and continued to grain farm. She also
worked as a seamstress for Arctic Cat in Karlstad
for two years. Virgil died on September 28, 1998.
Delphine
was a member of the Strandquist American Legion
Auxiliary and Strandquist Senior Citizens.
She
enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, crocheting, cooking
and especially, spending time with her family.
Survivors
include a son, Lyle (Barb) Braff of Strandquist; a
daughter, Marla Braff of Strandquist; six
grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Gibson of
Emmettsburg, Iowa.
Delphine
was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a
