- Wallace Bothum, 88, died Tuesday, November
27, 2001 at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in
Karlstad. 
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December
1, at First Lutheran Church of Karlstad with Rev.
Gary Halverson officiating. Kirstin Olson was the
organist, and special music was provided by the
Hodne family. Casketbearers included grandsons
Kelly Bothum, Brian Bothum, Richard Bothum, Tim
Bothum, Mike Granger, Todd Stennes, Chad Thompson
and Trent Thompson. Interment was in Karlstad
Cemetery in Karlstad with Collins Funeral Home in
charge of the arrangements.
Wallace
Jerod O'Dean Bothum was born in Halma on May 28.
1913, the son of Albert and Hulda (Erickson)
Bothum. He grew up and attended school at Halma and
was baptized at Eidsvold Lutheran Church of
Halma.
On
May 28, 1933, Wallace was united in marriage to
Myrtle Aslakson. The couple resided in Halma,
Halstad and Detroit, Mich. before they returned to
Karlstad where Wallace operated an implement
dealership and farmed.
He
as a member of First Lutheran Church of Karlstad.
He was also active in the Karlstad Chamber of
Commerce and served as its president for a
year.
Wallace
is survived by his wife, Myrtle; two sons, Warren
"Manny" (Eileen) of Karlstad and Jerry (Margaret)
of Grand Island, Neb.; three daughters, Malvern
(Gene) Granger of White Bear Lake, Marlyce (Robert)
Stennes of Marine on St. Croix and Markell
(Douglas) Thompson of Greenville, Mich.; 16
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great
great-grandson; a brother, Myles of Karlstad; two
sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Preceding
him in death were his parents and four brothers,
Grant, Kenneth and two in infancy.
