Judith Bothum, 88

Karlstad - Judith Bothum, 88, died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Karlstad Heathcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (April 18) at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma with Rev. Gary Halverson officiating. Kirstin Olson will be the organist, and Clarice Yngve will be the pianist. Vocal music will be presented by Diedre and Jan Nordin accompanied by Garnette Hanson. Casketbearers will be Larry Bothum, Mark Bothum, Shane Bothum, Dallas Bothum, Warren Bothum and Norman Krantz. Interment will be in Karlstad Cemetery in Karlstad.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 17, after 6 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Judith Linnea Petterson was born on October 29, 1912 at Karlstad, the daughter of Ivar Algot and Vendla (Ekberg) Petterson. She grew up in Karlstad and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1931. She studied nursing and music in the Twin Cities and later graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College.

On June 16, 1938, Judith was united in marriage to Myles Bothum at Karlstad where the couple had since made their home. Judith taught in rural schools in the area before beginning her teaching career at Karlstad in the early 1950's. She taught the third grade and also taught piano to many area children. Judith retired from teaching in 1975. Since September of 1998, she had resided at Karlstad Healthcare Center.

She was a member of the Kennedy Homemakers Club and Karlstad American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a long-time member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church and was a member of the former Oslo Lutheran Church.

Judith especially enjoyed music and dogs.

Survivors include her husband, Myles; two sons, Jack (Loretta) and Michael "Mickey," both of Karlstad; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Paul Petterson of Karlstad; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Keith in infancy. A00003B2000AP18
