Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.

Christine was born on September 26, 1901 at Beaton in Deerwood Township of Kittson County. She was the last survivor of the pioneer family of Barney and Martha (Langve) Bothum. She attended the Beaton School, and in 1911 moved with her parents to Halma where she attended school. She was baptized and confirmed in the Oslo Free Lutheran Church. All of her studies for confirmation were in the Norwegian language.

She worked at several jobs in the Halma area during her young adult life and later moved to Thief River Falls to care for her uncle, Martin Bothum. After his death, she continued to live in Thief River Falls serving as a caregiver to several different people. After her retirement, she lived in an apartment next to her widowed sister Lena, who died in 1991. She continued to live in the apartment until eight years ago when she took up residence at Valley Home where she received excellent care. Christine was scheduled to ride in the parade at the Halma Centennial celebration on July 3rd as the oldest living member. She won't make it but we hope she will be looking down on us. Christine had a fantastic memory, loved company and didn't want to miss anyone. A sign near her door said to come in and wake her, if she happened to be napping.

Survivors include one niece, Barbara Anderson of Elkhart, Ind.; three nephews, Myles Bothum of Karlstad, Jim Tuff of Minneapolis, Jack Tuff of Elkhart, Ind.; numerous grand, great-grand and great-great-grand nieces and nephews.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Martin and Martin both in infancy, Albert, Melbin and Mentor; four sisters, Bertha and Cora both in infancy, Melia Tuff and Lena Kolberg; and three nephews.
