Joseph Bolek, 93

Roseau - Joseph Bolek, 93, died on Friday, December 20, 2002 at the Roseau Area Hospital in Roseau.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 23 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leo with Rev. Don Braukmann officiating. Alice Blawat was the organist and Colette Mooney was the reader. Casketbearers were Dale Kuznia, Adrian Dolney, Ronnie Mooney, John Bolek, Sidney Joslyn and Bill Stanislawski. Honorary casketbearers were all those who attended the service. Interment was in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Leo with military honors accorded by the Greenbush American Legion Post #88.

Joseph Peter Bolek was born on June 29, 1909, the son of John and Mary (Pepara) Bolek in Greenbush. He grew up and attended school in Greenbush. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leo, near his home. Joe served with the United States Army during World War II, serving in Guam. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to the farm in Polonia Township of Roseau County, where he made his home for many years. He was a life long member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church of Leo and a member of the Greenbush American Legion Post #88. Since November, 2002, he has resided at the Greenbush Nursing Home.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Johan, Mike, Stanley, John and Myron.
