Clara Bodell, 101

Warren - Clara Bodell, 101, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.

Funeral services were held on Clara Bodell Monday, August 12 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren with Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Clara Baesman was born on February 9, 1901, the daughter of Fred and Alvina (Gustoff) Baesman in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She was raised on a farm and attended school through the eighth grade. She then moved to Radium as a young girl where she worked on the farm and was also a chamber maid at Hotel Warren.

On June 7, 1922, Clara was united in marriage to Gust Bodell in Warren. The couple farmed and raised livestock on a farm east of Warren. Gust passed away on October 25, 1965. Clara continued to live on the farm until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in April of 2000.

Clara was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens, being on the farm, crocheting and playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include two sons, Ron (Mary Ann) Bodell of Warren and Donald "Mike" (Shirley) Bodell of Robbinsdale; a daughter-in-law, Gladys Bodell of Warren; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband; four sons, Warren, Harold, Howard and Marvin; daughter, Beverly Mock; two sisters; and five brothers.
