Robert Blackwood, 60

Dassel - Robert Blackwood, 60, died Friday, March 9, 2001 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 13, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with Rev. Douglas Pierce officiating. Friends and relatives provided special music. Casketbearers were Bob Wilde, Gayle Mattson, Paul Flatt, Larry Ostlund, Kenneth Swanson and Michael Linder. Honorary casketbearers were Paul Hoffman, Le Holmquist, Jim Mattson, Gary Finken and Don Gilberg. Interment was in Lake Jennie Covenant Church Cemetery, rural Dassel.

Robert "Bob" Thomas Blackwood was born on February 11, 1941 at St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis, the son of Rev. Walter and Dorothy (Petersen) Blackwood. He was baptized at Star Prairie, Wisc. in 1953 and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1959. He later attended the Area Vocational Technical Institute in Thief River Falls. Before moving to Dassel in 1963, Bob lived with his parents in Big Falls and Viking.

On April 2, 1966, he was united in marriage to Diane Nelson at Dassel. Over the years, Bob was employed at Dassel Lumber and Oil, owned and operated a fuel delivery business and worked for Wessman Oil in Cokato. When he was unable to work full-time, he worked part-time for Porta-Dock and Dassel Apartments.

At Lake Jennie Covenant Church, Bob taught Sunday school, served as Chairman, served on the property and music committees and led worship.

He enjoyed singing with different groups, including his quartet and the Litchfield Male Chorus.

Bob is survived by his wife, Diane; his mother, Dorothy of Cokato; two sons, Brian (Amy) of Shakopee and Anthony of St. Louis Park; two grandchildren; a nephew and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Carolyn Hoffman. A00003B2000MA21
