- Bertha Blackberg, 94, died on Friday, July
25, 2003 at Karlstad Healthcare Center in
Karlstad.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July
30 (today) at the Johnson-Green Funeral Chapel in
Thief River Falls with Steven Spilde as the
speaker. Casketbearers will be Lyle Blackberg,
Edward Carlson, Dave Hansen, John Lofstrom, Lenny
Lofstrom and Daryl Lofstrom. Interment will be in
Opdahl Cemetery in New Maine Township of Marshall
County. Visitation will be held for one hour prior
to services at the chapel on Wednesday.
Bertha
Oline Banken was born on the family farm in East
Park Township of Marshall County on May 14, 1909,
the daughter of Ole and Birget (Jevne) Banken. She
grew up and attended country school there.
On
April 20, 1926, Bertha was united in marriage to
Hjalmer Carl Blackberg in Strandquist. The couple
farmed in the New Maine Township until moving to
Karlstad in 1965. Bertha recently moved into the
Karlstad Healthcare Center, where she resided for a
short time.
Survivors
include one son, Morris (Joyce) Blackberg of
Karlstad; one daughter, Blanche Lofstrom of
Karlstad; eight grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; and one great
great-grandson.
Bertha
was preceded in death by her husband, Hjalmer; her
parents; one daughter, Delphine Sorum; one
granddaughter; a brother, Fred; sisters, Randyne
Shern and Clara Hansen; and a son-in-law, Elmer
