Red
Lake Falls - Irving W. Beyer, 78, died Sunday,
February 24, 2002 at his home near Red Lake
Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at
10:30
a.m. today (Wednesday, Febru-ary 27) at St. John
Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Rev. Jeffrey
S. Lytle officiating. Casey Klipping will be the
organist, and Mike Lehrer will be the soloist.
Casketbearers
will include Cale Beyer, Patrick Beyer, Steven
Haglund, Dustin I. Buse, Benjamin Huot, Seth Huot,
and Kody Huot. Serving as honorary casketbearers
will be Kristina Peterson, Paula Falk, Katharine
Streifel, Susanne Herberg, Sunshine Haglund, Shana
Lanctot, Jennifer Neid, Carly Buse, and Abby Buse.
Military honors will be accorded by the Red Lake
Falls American Legion Post. Interment will be in
Immanuel Cemetery in Wylie.
Visitation
was held Tuesday, February 26, from 5 to 8 p.m.
with a 7 p.m. prayer service at St. John Lutheran
Church. Visitation will also be held for one hour
prior to today's services. Johnson Funeral Service
of Red Lake Falls is in charge of the
arrangements.
Irving
W. "Irv" Beyer was born on December 28, 1923 at
Lorain, Ohio, the son of Chester and Beatrice
(Lampe) Beyer. When Irving was a young boy, his
family moved to California, and when he was nine,
they moved to Wylie Township in Red Lake County.
Irving attended school in Dorothy and graduated
from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in
1941. On August 6, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S.
Army Air Force and served until his honorable
discharge on March 26, 1943.
On
February 12, 1944, Irving married Adeline Weiss at
Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Red Lake Falls. The
couple made their home on the family farm in Wylie
Township where Irving dairy farmed with his father
until 1972 and then with his daughter and
son-in-law, Nancy and Dennis Haglund.
Irv
was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Wylie
until it merged with St. John Lutheran Church in
Red Lake Falls where he had since been a member.
From 1948 until 1970, he served as a Wylie Township
supervisor, and he served as a Red Lake County
commissioner for 20 years. He was very active in
church, community and civic activities, as well as
county and state politics. He was a member of the
NFO, the Red River Valley Milk Producers
Association, and was the longest living member of
the Red Lake Falls American Legion.
He
enjoyed hunting, reading, crossword puzzles, and
spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irv
is survived by his wife, Adeline Beyer of Red Lake
Falls; four daughters, Cheryl Beyer of Hawley,
Nancy (Dennis) Haglund of Red Lake Falls, Pat
Huot-Kentch of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Julie
(Todd) Buse of Red Lake Falls; a son, Steven
(Phyllis) Beyer of Elkhorn, Neb.; 16 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Weinberg of
Red Lake Falls; a sister-in-law; and many nieces
and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and two
brothers, Chester and Neal. A00003B2002FB27
