Esther Best, 96

Ellsworth, Wisc. - Esther Gudrun Best, 96, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the Ellsworth Care Center in Ellsworth, Wisc.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 23 at 2 p.m. at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Joyce Halbasch was the organist and Chris Cuppett was the soloist. Special music included "The Lord's Prayer." Interment was in Greenwood Cememtery in Thief River Falls.

Esther Larson was born on May 22, 1906, the daughter of Edward and Jorgina (Kolstad) Larson in Thief River Falls. She earned a degree in education from Moorhead State University and taught in Thief River Falls, Moorhead, Fergus Falls, Le Sueur, Crosby-Ironton and Blackduck. In 1948, she married William Lawrence Best. The couple resided in Thief River Falls before moving to Minnetonka in 1960. Her husband died in 1984, after which she lived in Red Wing, Tillamook, Ore. and Beldenville, Wisc. Esther was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Wisc. She enjoyed working on family history and genealogy.

Survivors include a sister, Ardith, (Herbert) Ottman of Beldenville, Wisc. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, William, and nine brothers and sisters. A00003B2002SP25
