Alma Bergeron, 96

South Milwaukee, Wisc. - Alma Bergeron, 96, formerly of Oklee, died on Monday, September 8, 2003 at Franciscan Villa Nursing Home in South Milwaukee, Wisc.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 11 at Molthen-Bell Funeral Home in South Milwaukee. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, September 15 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Oklee with the Rev. John Kleinwachter officiating. Interment was in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

Marie Rose Alma Boucher was born on July 16, 1907 at Lambert Township of rural Oklee, the daughter of Adelard and Alice (Rahier) Boucher. She was baptized on July 28, 1907, grew up and attended school in Oklee.

On November 27, 1929, Alma was united in marriage to Aristide Bergeron in Oklee. The couple made their home in rural Oklee, where she was an active farm wife, helping with all the responsibilities of the farm. After retiring from farming at 59 years old, she worked at the Oklee Manufacturing Company, manufacturing and sewing parts for Arctic Cat. She worked there for eight years. She and Aristide moved into Oklee and lived in senior housing for a few years. Aristide died in 1991. After her husband's death, she spent winters with her son in Caledonia, Wisc. She returned to Oklee for the summers. In 1996, Alma permanently moved to Wisconsin, living with her son and in May 2002, she moved into the Franciscan Villa Nursing Home in Wisconsin.

Alma belonged to the St. Francis Church and was an active member of the Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed sewing, fishing, quilting, gardening and all aspects of farming.

Survivors include her son, Paul (Elsie) Bergeron of Caledonia, Wisc.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys (Wilfred) Mercil; sisters-in-law, Bertha and Grace; a step-brother, Wilfred Boucher; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Albert (Goldie), Gertrude (Walter) Archaumbault, Laura (Joseph) Dessellier, Leo, Raymond and George (Thelma). A00003B2003SP17
