Georgianna Benoit, 95

Benoit-GeorgiannaRed Lake Falls - Georgianna Benoit, 95, died Saturday, May 19, 2001 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Polly Beyer was the organist, and special music was provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. Mary Ann Benoit was the reader. Casketbearers were Danny Benoit, Kevin Benoit, Bobby Schmitz, Pete Stich, Steve Philion and Ron Juneau. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Crookston with Johnson Funeral Service of Red Lake Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Georgianna Lefaivre was born July 6, 1905 at Terrebonne, the daughter of Octave and Emma (Bisson) Lefaivre. She was raised in Gervais township of Red Lake county and attended rural school.

On July 6, 1932, she was united in marriage to Maurice Benoit at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple purchased land in Louiseville township where they built and home and barn and actively farmed until 1980. After Maurice died on September 28, 1988, Georgianna continued to live on the farm until November, 2000 when she moved to the Sunview Center in Red Lake Falls. Since February, 2001, she had been a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Georgianna was a member of St. Dorothy's Catholic Church and its Guild and AFRAN.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening and raising African violets.

Georgianna is survived by two sons, Clement (Mary Ann) Benoit and Virgil (Sherry O'Donnell) Benoit, both of Red Lake Falls; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Jim Thompson of Kenosha, Wisc.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Elizabeth Thompson; an infant son, Donald Benoit; a grandson; Edward Benoit; her parents; two sisters, Lucy Lefaivre and Sr. Leaha Lefaivre; and three brothers, Paul Lefaivre, Louis Lefaivre and George Lefaivre. A00003B2000MY23
