Harry Benke, 86

Brooklyn Park - Harry Benke, 86, died Sunday, March 24, 2002.

A mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, April 1, at 1 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian with Father August Gothman officiating and Father Joseph Menker, OMI concelebrating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Brainerd-Baxter.

Harry Benke was born on June 30, 1915 in Stephen, the son of Nicholas and Victoria (Rybaski) Benke. He spent 60 years on the family farm near Stephen and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Alvina; four sons, Don (Pauline) Benke of Minnetonka, David Benke of Eagan, Richard Benke of Phoenix, Ariz., and Darrell (Ann) Benke of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Darlene Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Stallock of Drayton, N.D.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Adolph; and a stepsister, Pauline Chwialkowski. A00003B2002AP03
