Harry Beito, 83

Strathcona - Harry Beito, 83, of Strathcona, died at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls on Monday, August 12, 2002. Harry Beito

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 16 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Thief Lake with Rev. Sandra Hollands officiating. Pat Hanson was the organist and the Beito family provided the special music. Selections included "Gone Home" and "Grandpa." Casketbearers were Harry's grandsons and honorary casketbearers were all those who attended the service. Interment was in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in Thief Lake. Military honors were accorded by the Middle River American Legion Post 444.

Harry Beito was born on December 22, 1918, the son of Gilbert and Sophie (Underdahl) Beito in Huss Township in Roseau County. He attended school there and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Harry served with the US Army from 1941 to 1945, serving in New Guinea. Following discharge, he returned to Strathcona.

On November 5, 1945, he married Wilma Willard in Thief River Falls. The couple lived and farmed in Huss Township for many years.

Harry was a member of the Middle River American Legion Post for many years. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family. Wilma died on July 19, 1999 and Harry continued to live on the farm.

Survivors include his two sons, Mike (Sue) and Mitch (Michele), both of Thief River Falls; three daughters, Barb Hanson of Viking, Susie (Roger) Wojciechowski of Warroad and Shirley Brazier of Greenbush; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elwood (Joyce) of Middle River and Arne (Thora) of Wannaska; two sisters, Alice Taus of Crookston and Maureen Bahr of Green Acres, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one grandson; one granddaughter; and several brothers and sisters.
