Marilyn Bannerman, 57

Thief River Falls - Marilyn Bannerman, 57, died on Monday, October 28, 2002 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.

Funeral services will be held at bannerman 11 a.m. on Friday, November 1 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Merrill Kindall officiating. Casketbearers will be Neil Peterson, Scott Peterson, Gary Dahlen, Christian Olson, George Olson and Tony Brouse. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31 at the Johnson Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Marilyn Joyce Pikop was born on August 31, 1945, the daughter of Marvin K. and Lucille (Knutson) Pikop in Fergus Falls. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1964. On June 19, 1965, Marilyn was united in marriage to Marvin Ellis Bannerman in Fordville, N.D. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Marilyn was a school bus driver in Thief River Falls for 13 years. She worked at an independent bus service out of Pembina, N.D., delivering buses nationwide. Marilyn also worked for Abraa Cab for the Soo Line Railroad. She also sold everything from Avon to Tupperware as a second job.

Marilyn enjoyed painting, crocheting, crafts, making homemade bread and doughnuts and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, talking on the telephone and collecting angels. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the VFW auxiliary. Marilyn was the driver of the "Bannerman Club."

Survivors include her husband, Marvin of Thief River Falls; four children, Cari (Troy) Olson of Roseau, Julie (Mark) Deschene of Hallock, RaeAnn (Joey) Svalen of McIntosh and Nancy Bannerman of Thief River Falls; six grandchildren; her mother, Lucille Pikop of Thief River Falls; a brother, Wesley (Judy) Pikop of Glendale, Ariz.; five sisters, Barbara (Dan) Derosier of Little Falls, Nancy (Norvel) Parsley of Warroad, Kathy (Butch) Krantz of Forest Lake, Linda (Richard) Penning of Moorhead and Kelly (Mike) Cornacchione of Clearwater, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Marvin.
