Florence Banaszewski, 90

Strandquist - Florence Banaszewski, 90, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian with Rev. August Gothman officiating. Music was provided by Susan Ripplinger and Jennifer Edbon. Casketbearers included Dewayne Banaszewski Jr., Jason Blazejewski, Jared Gostanczik, Bradley Benke, Jeffrey Benke and Justin Blazejewski. Honorary casketbearers included all of Florence's grandchildren. Interment was in Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Florian with Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren in charge of the arrangements.

Florence Nowacki was born July 28, 1911 in Alma Township of Marshall County, the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Wirkus) Nowacki. She grew up and attended school in Alma Township.

On September 5, 1932, she was united in marriage to Frank Banaszewski at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alma Township. The couple lived in Alma Township and Stephen before moving to Englund Store in rural Strandquist. Frank died on February 18, 1969.

Florence was a member of Assumption Catholic Church of Florian and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Dewayne (Barbara) Banaszewski Sr. of Roseau; three daughters, Carol (Raymond) Benke of Middle River, Janet (special friend, Jim) Gostanczik of Bemidji, and Janice (Robert) Blazejewski of Strandquist; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Prondzinski of Grafton, N.D., Lorraine Bieniski of Argyle, and Lucille Haugen of Strandquist; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Valarian; and six brothers, John, Allan, Edmund, Frank, Norbert, and Raymond. A00003B2002FB06
