Rose Back, 81

Karlstad - Rose Back, 81, died on Monday, August 26, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, in Thief River Falls.

Memorial services were held on Friday, August 30 at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Stephen with Rev. David Pretty and Rev. Mark Hanson officiating. Kathy Englund was the organist and Everett and Kathy Englund were the vocalists. Musical selections included "Until Then" and "I'll Fly Away." Urnbearer was Duane Bagaas. Inurnment was at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Augsburg Township of Marshall County.

Rose Isabelle Benson was born on January 18, 1921, the daughter of George Bernard and Selma Christine (Sjoblom) Benson in Augsburg Township in Marshall County. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. She attended country school in Augsburg Township. After finishing school, she worked as a housekeeper in the area for several different people.

Rose was united in marriage to Anders Bagaas. The couple had four children. She worked as a treasurer/bookkeeper. She later divorced and then cooked at the Karlstad Public School from 1959 to 1962. In 1962, Rose married Archie C. Throlsen. Archie died in 1968 and in 1982, Anders died.

Rose moved to Karlstad where she worked making quilts for Lutheran World Relief and worked as a homemaker. She enjoyed her "scrap quilting," nature, bird watching, canning and gardening.

Survivors include children, Arvid (Pat) Bagaas of Karlstad, Duane Bagaas of Karlstad, Wuffy Evans of Arlington, Wash. and Leonard Bagaas of Donaldson; a sister, Edythe (Paul) Grandstrand of Stephen; a brother, Ray (Ruby) Benson of Lake Bronson; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and two brothers, Felix and an infant brother. A00003B2002SP04
