Crookston - Orris Austreng, 72, died Tuesday, February 18, 1997 at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston. Arrangements were with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 21 at Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Curtis Anderson officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Orris Austreng was born on September 29, 1924 in Pembina, ND, the son of Louis and Ragna (Lebacken) Austreng. He lived in Faribault, Brainerd, Fergus Falls and he moved to Johnson's Boarding Home in Thief River Falls in 1969. He moved to Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston in 1991. He worked at ODC, Anderson Automotive, DAC and did maintenance work at the Club Cafe in Thief River Falls.
Orris enjoyed his horse, visiting with his friends, fishing and attending sporting events. He especially enjoyed working.
He is survived by sisters Myrtle Wilson and Irene Knutson both of Grand Forks, ND; brother James Austreng of Reynolds, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters LaVerne and Genevieve; brother Vernon; and his parents.
