Grygla
- Lila Aune, 76, died on Thursday, March 27,
2003 at her home in Grygla.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, March 31 at United
Lutheran Church in Gatzke with the Rev. Sandra
Hollands officiating. Gloria Sistad was the
organist and Mary Ann Lunsetter was the soloist.
Casketbearers were Christopher Wells, Shane Wells,
Patrick Wells, Derek Berg, Mark Severts, Cody
Severts and Brandon Bieber. Honorary casketbearers
were Lindsey Wells, Megan Berg, Tara Severts and
Brittany Bieber. Interment was in Moose River
Cemetery in Gatzke.
Lila
Marcella Kilen was born on August 12, 1926, the
daughter of Joseph and Annie (Billison) Kilen, in
Kratka. She was baptized at Telemarken Church and
confirmed at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She
grew up and attended Middle River High School and
graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in
1944. She also attended and graduated from Thief
River Falls Teachers Training School in
1945.
On August
18, 1945, Lila was united in marriage to Kenneth
Laverne Aune in Thief Lake. She taught rural school
in Windom and Gatzke. She also worked for Mounds
View School District for 19 years. She retired in
1988. After living in the Twin Cities for 41 years,
the couple moved back to Grygla in 1991. Lila was a
member of United Lutheran Church in Gatzke, the
Circle at United Lutheran and held membership at
Fourtown/Grygla Sportsman's Club. She enjoyed
painting, traveling, camping, reading, sewing,
bowling and spending winters in Mission, Texas,
since 1989. She especially loved spending time with
her grandchildren.
Survivors
include her husband, Kenneth of Grygla; chidren,
KayLynn (Les) Wells of Edmonton, Canada, Roxanne
(Tim) Berg of Thief River Falls, Karen (Darell)
Severts of Middle River, and Denise (David) Bieber
of Lakeville; 11 grandchildren; sister, Ella Olson
of Fresno, Calif., seven sisters-in-law; and many
nieces, nephews and friends.
Lila was
preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Anna
Keller, Lena Thompson, Manda Bayes, Sarah Engen,
Clara Pederson and Stella Branzell; brothers,
Erwin, Alfred, Jul, Coleman, Henry and Arthur
