Robert Asp Jr., 63

New Richmond, Wisc. - Robert Asp Jr., 63, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at Christian Community Home in Hudson, Wisc.

Funeral services were held Asp Obit Friday, August 17, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in New Richmond with Rev. Alan George officiating. Organist was Mary Jensen, and Jeanine Carlson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Rick, Ray, Randy and Ron Wallace and Virgil, Gaylon, Eldon and Bobby Phelps. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Knapp, Wisc. with Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Henry Asp Jr. was born on January 4, 1938 in Little Falls, Wisc., the son of Robert Henry and Margaret (Schuster) Asp. He was baptized in the Christian faith and moved with his family to New Richmond before starting school. He graduated from New Richmond High School in 1956.

From 1956 to 1961, Bob attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout where he met Nancy Dotseth. The couple was married on January 30, 1960 in Menomonie, Wisc.

In January of 1961, Bob began working at Doboy in New Richmond and worked there for almost 39 years. Bob and Nancy had four children. She died in 1983.

On August 4, 1990, Bob married Patricia Zealley in Menomonie, and they had lived in Amery, Wisc. since 1991.

He was affiliated with First Lutheran and the United Methodist churches in New Richmond and, as an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia; three sons, Daniel of River Falls, David (Terri) of Hudson and Gerald (Michele) of West Allis, Wisc.; a daughter, Janet of Menomonie; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Mary, Jeff and Dan Zealley; a step grandchild; two sisters, Mary Wallace of Boardman, Wisc. and Alma Phelps of Goodridge; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy, and his parents.
