Anna Aschberger, 92

Thief River Falls - Anna Aschberger, 92, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at Anna Aschberger Obit TIF 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 18, at Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls with Father Dennis Wieland officiating. Carol Amundson was the organist, and the cantor was Marie Nowacki. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Anna Appelt was born on October 21, 1908 in Harvey, N.D., the daughter of William and Sophie (Heil) Appelt. She attended school in Anamoose, N.D. and grew up on the family farm. Anna also attended a seamstress school and worked out of her home.

On June 25, 1928, Anna was united in marriage to John Aschberger at the Catholic church in Harvey, N.D. The couple made their home in Tappan, N.D. for more than 50 years where Anna sewed for people, cut hair and gave permanents. In 1981, the couple moved to Thief River Falls. For several years, Anna resided at Skylite Apartments where she sang in the choir.

She enjoyed spending time with and going shopping with her daughters and granddaughters.

Anna is survived by a daughter, Jeanet "Jan" (Patrick) Halling of Thief River Falls; a son, Lloyd (Kay) Aschberger of Willis, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Joyce; her parents; four sisters, Adeline Rott, Regina Schliender, Lydia Normonson and Metha Bruce; and three brothers, William Appelt, Emmanuel Appelt and Edward Appelt. A00003B2000DC20
