Rev. Dennis Anderson, 79

Wolverton - Rev. Dennis G. Anderson, 79, died Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at his home in Wolverton.

A memorial services was held Sunday, September 9, at 3 p.m. at Wolverton Evangelical Free Church in Wolverton. Burial was in Eagle Cemetery in Christine, N.D. with Korsmo Funeral Service of Moorhead in charge of the arrangements.

Dennis G. Anderson was born on March 1, 1922, at Viking, the daughter of Axel and Ruth (Lindquist) Anderson. He grew up and attended school at Newfolden, graduating from high school there in 1940. As a young man, he moved to California where he worked in an aircraft factory.

In 1943, Dennis entered the U.S. Army Corps and served in the Pacific until his discharge after the end of World War II. He attended the University of Minnesota for two years and then entered Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Minneapolis.

On June 16, 1951, Dennis was united in marriage to Dorothy Schevling at New Haven, Conn. The couple made their home in Chicago, Ill. where Dennis continued his education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School after the school moved from Minneapolis to Chicago. In 1952, Dennis received his Master of Divinity degree and became a pastor.

The family resided in California for a year, and then, from 1954 until 1963, served as missionaries in the Philippines. After returning to the united states, they served in North Haven, Conn., Thief River Falls, and Valley City, N.D. with a sabbatical at Wolverton. In 1977, they returned to California to work at a church and minister to people from the Philippines. In 1992, they retired and returned to Wolverton where they had since resided.

Rev. Anderson is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Wolverton; a son, Philip (Mary Alice) Anderson of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; five daughters, Laura (Adam) Chu of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tina (Mark) Sundstrom of Wolverton, Sara (Hunter) Clark of Alpharetta, Ga., Martha Anderson of Fargo, N.D. and Lisa Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Joyce (Gordon) Stokka of Fargo, N.D., Charlotte (R.W.) Hauser of Turlock, Calif. and Arloine Swanson of Detroit Lakes; and nine grandchildren.
