- Lawrence E. Anderson, 85, died July 25, 2004.
Services were held on Thursday, July 29, at
Karlstad Gospel Tabernacle, with Pastor Mark Hanson
officiating. Interment was at Karlstad Cemetery.
Lawrence
Edwin Anderson, the son of the late J. Alfred and
Emma (Peterson) Anderson, was born on Dec. 17,
1918, in Springbrook Township of Kittson County,
near Kennedy. He grew to manhood there, attending
rural school near his home. On November 6, 1942,
Lawrence was united in marriage to Gay Johnson in
Nelson Park Township, Marshall County, near
Strandquist. The couple farmed in Springbrook
Township until 1972. Lawrence was employed by Halma
Concrete for 13. In 1983, they moved into Karlstad
where they have since made their home. Lawrence was
a long-time member of the Karlstad Gospel
Tabernacle, serving on the church council and also
enjoyed playing his guitar in the church orchestra
for many years. He also served on the Springbrook
Town Board. Lawrence had been in failing health for
the past several years, and passed away at Altru
Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., on Sunday afternoon,
July 25, 2004.
He is
survived by his wife, Gay; one daughter: Judy, Mrs.
Rodney Braaten, of Thief River Falls; three sons:
Jerry (Roxan), of Osseo; Curtis (Sherry), of Afton;
and Don (Becky), of Karlstad; eight grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; one sister: Joyce, Mrs.
Vergil Poole, of Lake Bronson; in addition to
several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other
relatives.
Lawrence
was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter:
Sandra in 1996, and a brother, Lloyd.
Casket
bearers were: Jim Johnson, Terry Johnson, Michael
Poole, Rodney Braaten, Paul Anderson and Louis
Belisle.
