- Ella Anderson, 92, died on Wednesday, April
16, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center in
Warren.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, April 19 at the
Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls
with the Rev. John Wollenzien officiating.
Interment was in Viking Cemetery in
Viking.
Ella
Alvina Engen was born on September 7, 1910, the
daughter of Hartvik and Marie (Hanson) Engen, in
Marsh Grove Township of Marshall County. She was
baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and
attended Green Valley School. She attended the Area
Vocational School in Thief River Falls in the late
1950 and early 1960s, receiving certified courses
in office machines, typing, bookkeeping, first aid
and civil defense.
On
December 21, 1930, Ella was united in marriage to
Arthur LeRoy Anderson in Warren. The couple farmed
in Marshall County and resided in Thief River Falls
for most of their lives. Ella enjoyed being a
homemaker. She entered the Good Samaritan Home in
Warren on October 31, 2002. She enjoyed gardening,
sewing, baking, reading, being outdoors and
spending winters in the southwest with her
daughter, Gail. She especially enjoyed hunting
ducks, geese and deer. The true joy in her life was
spending time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Survivors
include one son, Douglas (Colleen) of Oslo; a
daughter, Dr. Gail Anderson of Argyle; three
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three
sisters-in-law; and several nieces and
nephews.
Ella was
preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; a son,
Duane; her parents; brothers, Clarence, Walter and
Harvey; and sisters, Minnie, Hulda and
Mildred.
