Edwin
Anderson, 93
Bemidji
&endash; Edwin Anderson, 93, died Saturday,
July 6, 2002 at North Country Regional Hospital in
Bemidji.
Funeral
services will be held at
10:30
a.m. Wednesday, July 10 (today), at Silver Creek
Lutheran Church in rural Thief River Falls, with
Rev. David Pretty officiating. Burial will be at
Satersdal Cemetery, Excel Township, Marshall
County.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at
the Johnson-Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls,
with a 7 p.m. prayer service and for one hour prior
to services at the church on Wednesday.
Edwin
John Anderson was born July 16, 1908 in Holt
Township, north of Thief River Falls, to the late
Carl Ludvig and Anna (Jansdotter) Anderson, who
were Swedish immigrants. He was the first of his
family to be born in America. He was baptized and
confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Edwin grew up,
attended rural school and worked the family farm.
In 1925, he went to work in North Dakota farming
and working road construction.
On
June 6, 1934, Edwin was united in marriage to Mabel
Moe at Satersdal Lutheran Church, rural Thief River
Falls. The couple lived on their farm in Agder
Township where they farmed throughout the years.
Edwin worked on construction of the Alaska Highway
and many of the area roads. Eventually, they sold
the farm to their sons, Steven, John, and Charles.
Edwin continued to work with them. In 1996, they
moved to Bemidji to be closer to family.
Edwin
was a member of Silver Creek Lutheran Church. He
enjoyed gardening and deer hunting. Edwin and Mable
took care of Satersdal Church yard and cemetery for
many years.
Survivors
include children: Shirley (Ronald) Osborne, Moose
Lake, Mary Anne (Donald) Norum, Bemidji, John
(Carolyn Anderson, Stillwater, Charles (SuAnne)
Anderson, Alexandria, and Steven (Ginny) Anderson,
Grand Marais; 14 grandchildren; 31 great
grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Lunke, Milaca, and
Gladys Gillespie, Prescott, Ariz., and a brother,
Levin (Dorothy) Anderson, Pine River.
He
was preceded in death by his wife Mabel on November
6, 1999, two grandchildren, and two brothers, Carl
and Ragnar.
