Alice Anderson, 74

Strathcona - Alice Anderson, 74, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Sheltering Oaks Manor Nursing Home in Roseau.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Gieseke Funeral Chapel in Greenbush with Rev. Louis Hermansen officiating. Lynn Balstad was the organist, and the soloist was Marie Olson. Casketbearers were her grandchildren, John and David Klassen, and Julie, Jessica, Timothy and Ryan Anderson. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Strathcona.

Alice Jeanette Lorenson was born on April 5, 1927 in Deer township of Roseau county near Strathcona, the daughter of Pedar and Agda (Wicklund) Lorenson. She grew up and attended school near Strathcona. In the 1940s, she worked at Budd Hospital in Roseau.

On June 18, 1948, Alice married Lloyd Anderson at Roseau. They farmed in Deer township for many years. Alice worked at the Greenbush Hospital from 1957 to 1971, and from 1974 until her retirement in 1979, she worked at the nursing home in Karlstad. Lloyd died on July 21, 1999.

Alice is survived by two sons, Steve (Jane) of Roseau and Hal (Linda Peterson) of Strathcona; a daughter, Margie (John) Klassen of Vita, Manitoba, Canada; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Agnes (Oscar) Olson of Gilbert, Milly Sumner of Sullivan, Mo., Olga Hamberg of Phoenix, Ariz., Gladyce Rynning of Hallock and Ardyce Dahl of Northwood, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Sidney and Stuart; a grandson, Jeremy Fillmore; a brother, John Lorenson; and a sister, Bernice Christopher.
