Rose Anderson, 81

Greenbush - Rose E. Anderson, 81, died Wednesday, November 11, 1998 at the Roseau Area Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 14 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Reverend John Jorgensen officiating. Natalie Korczak was the organist, and Mary Jorgensen was the vocalist. Casketbearers were Ernest Hemp, Verne Nelson, Arlyn Anderson, Walter Miller, Curtiss Johnson and Charlie Kapphahn. Interment was in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery in Greenbush. The Collins Funeral Homes of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.

Rose Eleanor Johnson was born on February 8, 1917 in Strathcona, the daughter of John and Oline (Bjerland) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, attended grade school at Strathcona and graduated from Middle River High School in 1935. She attended teachers training in Warren and began teaching in rural schools in the Strathcona area in 1936.

On June 16, 1940 Rose was united in marriage to Orville C. Anderson at Strathcona. The couple lived and farmed in Deer township of Roseau county near Greenbush for many years. Rose continued to make her home on the farm after Orville died on November 24, 1974.

She was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid.

Rose is survived by one son, Allen (Susan) of Greenbush; one daughter, Avis of Minneapolis; two grandchildren; two sisters, Sigri Nelson of Greenbush and Alice Garrett of Caldwell, ID; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and five brothers, Olaf, Julius, Norman, Bill and Torben Johnson.
