
Grygla - Rodney Anderson, 59, died Friday, January 1, 1999 at Roseau Hospital in Roseau.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Joy Nordby was the organist, and Randy Larson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Rodney Byklum, Wesley Sandsmark, Stewart Sistad, Jerry Sistad, Donald Thomas and Duane Sletten. Honorary casketbearers were all of Rodney's grandchildren. Burial was in Valle Cemetery in Benville township of Beltrami county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Rodney A. Anderson was born on May 21, 1939 in Oslo, the son of Alex and Evelyn (Baumann) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Hatton, ND.
On September 28, 1957 he married Marie B. Nordby. For several years Rodney was employed by Sand Steel in the construction of steel buildings and was an over-the-road truck driver. At the time of his illness he was managing Diamonds in Grygla. He was currently residing at the Warroad Care Center.
He taught Sunday school for many years, worked with Cub Scouts and was a charter member of the Grygla Lions Club. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Rodney is survived by three sons, Steve of Grygla, Scott (Gwen) of Thief River Falls, and Tim (Mary) of Warroad; two daughters, Denise (Shannon) Ostby and Sherri Larson, both of Grygla; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Roger of Anoka; three sisters, Judy Meyers of Sykesville, MA, Kathy (Dennis) Cordahl of Hatton, ND, and Myrna (Kenny) Njos of Coon Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dayle Anderson; and one sister, Linda Grothe.
