Palmer Anderson, 79

Thief River Falls - Palmer Anderson, 79, died at the Sunnyside Nursing Center near Lake Park on Sunday, July 13, 1997.

Funeral services will be held today, July 16 at 11 a.m. at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in rural Oklee with Rev. Clarence Johnson officiating. Geleen Lundeen will be the organist, and the soloist will be Jodi Peters. Casketbearers will be Leonard Johnson, David Johnson, John Kolstoe, Orrin Linder and all who called Palmer a friend. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Green Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Palmer Edwin Anderson was born on July 24, 1917 in Garnes township, Red Lake County, the son of Edward and Clara (Skallet) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church and attended Riverside Elementary School in Garnes township. Palmer was a farm laborer in the area for many years. He was united in marriage to Ellen Kenny on September 18, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. The couple lived in Thief River Falls where Palmer was employed by the turkey processing plant for 14 years. Ellen died in 1973. In May of 1989, Palmer moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls, to Mahnomen in 1991, and more recently to Sunnyside Nursing Center near Park Rapids.

He is survived by four brothers, Arnold of Watson, Johnny (Lilly) of Albert Lea, Orlyn of Minneapolis and Kenneth (Marcile) of Glenville; two sisters, Alice Smith of Gilmore, TX and Ida (George) Thompson of Ames, IA; several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister, Evelyn Stennes.
