
Greenbush - Oel M. Anderson, 90, died on Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at the Greenbush Nursing Home in Greenbush.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 23 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Pastor Ernie Christensen officiating. Joan Haugen was the organist, and Marie Olson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Paul Everson, Arlyn Anderson, Raymond Schaller, Marlo Nelson, Dale Anderson and Mike Kilen. Interment was at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery. The Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.
Oel M. Anderson was born on October 28, 1907 at Ellendale, the son of Ole and Mary (Ellingson) Anderson. He was baptized on November 24, 1907 at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. He attended school in Ellendale until at the age of nine, he moved with his family to Greenbush. He attended school at Greenbush and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On November 25, 1933 Oel was united in marriage to Marie DeRaad at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush. They farmed near Greenbush until moving into town in 1957. Oel was employed at Jeff's Super Service for many years, and he also worked in road construction for a few years before he retired. Marie died on April 28, 1995. Oel had been a resident of the Greenbush Nursing Home for the past few years.
He enjoyed baseball and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Oel is survived by one son, Odeen (Dorothy) Anderson of Lake Bronson; two daughters, Clydene (Curtiss) Johnson of Strathcona and Marlene (Lester) Johnson of Moorhead; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Anderson of Detroit Lakes; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one son, Merlin in July of 1980.
