
Stephen - Mildred Anderson, 85, died Sunday, December 19, 1999 at Valley Square Nursing Home in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 23 at Salem Lutheran Church near Stephen with Rev. Erik Heskin officiating. Special music was provided by Mildred's grandchildren. Casketbearers were Kenneth Krohn, Jeffrey Anderson, Jeremy Mikkelson, Michael Anderson, Scott Anderson and Ryan Anderson. Interment was in Salem Church Cemetery. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of the arrangements.
Mildred Violet Gustafson was born on September 27, 1914 at Viking, the daughter of Emil and Andrina (Urdahl) Gustafson. She grew up and attended school in Viking and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On November 8, 1937 she was united in marriage to Gunnar B. Anderson at Thief River Falls. The couple farmed in Augsburg township of Marshall county near Stephen. After Gunnar died on July 12, 1984, Mildred moved to East Grand Forks.
She was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church and was active in church affairs. After moving to East Grand Forks, she did volunteer work at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Mildred is survived by two daughters, Mavis (Duane) Krohn of Viking and Elaine Jacobson of Trabuco Canyon, CA; three sons, Gerald (Connie) of Shoreview, Gary (Jean) of Viking and Darrell (Lois) of East Grand Forks; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Lund of Minneapolis; one brother, LeRoy (Edna) of Viking; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Arnold; two brothers, Marvin and Bertil; and son-in-law, Joseph Jacobson.
