
Kennedy - George Anderson, 72, died Monday, September 1, 1997 at his home near Kennedy.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 4 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Lake Bronson with Pastors Mary Carol and Cordell Strug officiating. Providing special music were organist Lenore Olson and soloist Lyndon Johnson. Casketbearers were Darwin Babst, William L. Davis, George Poole, David Koppe, David Fleming and Lowell Paraman. Military honors were accorded by the Lake Bronson-Halma American Legion Post. Interment was at Hope Cemetery of Kennedy. The Collins Funeral Homes of Karlstad, Greenbush and Middle River were in charge of the arrangements.
George Kenneth Anderson, the son of Emil and Elphie (Peterson) Anderson, was born on February 22, 1925 in Kittson County near Kennedy. He grew to manhood there and graduated from the Crookston Agricultural School. He farmed until entering the service where he served as a tank commander with the 103rd Engineer Company. Following his discharge, he returned to farming in Kittson County.
On November 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Ida Johnson at The Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, IA. Since their marriage the couple has lived and farmed in Springbrook township of Kittson County near Kennedy.
George was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lake Bronson where he served on the church council. He served on the Board of Directors of PKM Electric from 1968 until 1990. He also served on the Springbrook town board and had served on the FHA board.
George is survived by his wife, Ida; two daughters, Ivy (Grant) Bothum of Halma and Bethany (Chris) Tjornhom of Minnetonka; five grndchildren; two sisters, Erlyce Fosmoe and Evelyn Dilly, both of Fergus Falls; one brother-in-law, Darwin Babst of Fergus Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Rodney, Raymond and Wendell; and one sister, Margaret.
