Alton Anderson, 84

Goodridge - Alton A. Anderson, 84, died on Monday, April 14, 1997, at his home in Goodridge.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, with the Rev. Roberta Johnson and Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, Valley township, Marshall County.

Visitation will be held from noon until 8 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, on Friday with a 7 p.m. prayer service and for one prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Alton A. "Triple A" Anderson was born on October 25, 1912, in Clearwater County near Gully, the son of Andrew B. and Lena (Norskog) Anderson. As a boy he moved with his family to rural Grygla, and attended Big Grass School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith.

On October 17, 1937, he was united in marriage to Adella Fonnest at Grygla. The couple farmed in the Grygla area. Alton worked in the oil fields in Wyoming at various times. In 1941 they moved into Grygla and he owned and operated the Case Implement Dealership until 1958.

Alton enjoyed taking long drives, telling stories, and visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of the St. Olaf Church and the Senior Citizens in Grygla.

Survivors include one son, Dalton and wife Peg of Dewey, AZ; two daughters, Mayvonne Vigen and husband Larry and Donna Quam and husband Curtiss both of Goodridge; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gilmer Anderson and wife Francis of Thief River Falls, and Orvis Anderson and wife Barbara of Sparks, NV; one sister Helen Day and Visalia, CA; three sisters-in-law, Ethel Anderson, Delilah Anderson, and Alice Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter Adatha, four sisters, Tillie, Bergina, and Olive Anderson, and Sarah Shaddock, five brothers, two named Clarence, one died as an infant, and Berg, Theodore, and Ben.
