Ruth C. Andersen, 79

Karlstad &endash; Ruth Carol Anderson, 79, died Jan. 19, 2003, at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Karlstad Ruth Andersen Baptist Church, in Karlstad with Pastor David Ingraham officiating. Interment was at Karlstad Cemetery, Karlstad.

Ruth Carol Andersen, the daughter of the late Marcus and Carrie (Bystrom) Netterlund, was born on August 6, 1923, in Deerwood Township of Kittson Co., near Karlstad. She attended school and grew to womanhood here, graduating from Karlstad High School in 1941. On November 26, 1942, Ruth was united in marriage to Leslie ("Jack") Andersen at Karlstad. The couple made their home in Arveson Township near Karlstad for many years. Ruth was a life-long member of the Karlstad Baptist Church and active in a variety of church affairs. She served as Arveson Town Board Clerk for 30 years, and wrote the "South and East" Column for the Karlstad Advocate and the North Star News. "Jack" passed away September 2, 1986, and shortly after that, Ruth moved into Karlstad where she has since made her home. She has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center for the past 10 days, and passed away there on Sunday morning, January 19.

She is survived by four sons: Leon (Helen), of Rothsay; and Brian, Steve (Susan), and Tim (Linda), all of Karlstad; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother: Rudy (Gen), of St. Paul; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers: Fred, Reuben, Swen, and Mancer, and one sister, Agnes.
