Daryl Ander, 76

Boise, Idaho - Daryl E. Ander, 76, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at his home in Boise, Idaho.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 11, at 2 p.m. at Good Sheperd Lutheran Church in Boise with Rev. David Hrachovina and Rev. Timothy Pauls officiating. Interment was in Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho with Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Daryl E. Ander was born on April 28, 1925 in Thief River Falls, the son of Axel Edward and Esther Irene (Dahl) Ander. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving from 1943 until his discharge on January 5, 1945.

On May 2, 1945, he married Donna B. Protz in Thief River Falls. The couple had three sons. Donna died on June 16, 1959.

On November 21, 1962, Daryl was united in marriage to Rebecca Louise Beasley in Caldwell, Idaho. She brought four children to the family, and together, the couple raised seven children.

Daryl began his 38-year career with Sears Roebuck and Co. in 1945, serving in Bellingham, Wash., Yakima, Wash., Caldwell, Idaho, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Ogden, Utah where he was manager of the Ogden store at the time of his retirement in 1983. Following his retirement, he and Becky moved to Boise.

During his professional career, Daryl was an active member of the Idaho Retailers Association, past president of the Caldwell Rotary Club, and served many positions with the Chamber of Commerce and United Funds of Caldwell, Twin Falls and Ogden.

After he retired, he and Becky enjoyed varied activities, especially the company of family and friends. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Boise.

Survivors include his wife, Becky; four sons, David (Dianne) Ander, Rodney (Kandee) Andersen, Daniel (Kathy) Ander, and Douglas (Lu Anne) Ander; three daughters, Gretchen Gilbert, Sonja (Gary) Lyda, and MaryLou Webb; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Vigen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Ander. A00003B2002FB06
