Tillie Amundson, 82

Thief River Falls - Tillie Amundson, 82, died Friday, March 7, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Arrangements are with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Rev. John Jorgenson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery of Newfolden. Visitation was held Tuesday, March 11 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Green Funeral Home, and also at the church for one hour prior to services.

Casketbearers will be Newell Berggren, Arlynn Tunheim, Harlan Garfve, Rodney Liedberg, Hilton Hjelle and James Engelsrud.

Tillie Tunheim was born on March 14, 1914 in Newfolden, the daughter of Tollef and Betsy (Jacobson) Tunheim. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran church in Newfolden and attended Wildwood District #69 rural school in New Folden Township, Marshall County. Tillie attended high school in Newfolden. She worked for various families doing housework until uniting in marriage to Oscar Amundson in Newfolden on November 23, 1935. The couple farmed in West Valley township, Marshall County until 1974 when they retired from farming. They continued to live on the family farm until 1982 when they moved into Newfolden. Oscar died November 14, 1991.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilt making.

She is survived by son Rolland (Doreen) of Newfolden; sister-in-law Violet Rokke of Minneapolis; four granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar; parents; sisters Elsie Berggren, Bella Garfve, Rose Lindstrom and Sigrid Ekman; and brothers Theodore, Joseph, Alfred, Peter, Samuel and Tollef Tunheim.
