Delia Amiot, 81

Crookston - Delia Amiot, 81, died Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Riverview Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.

Mass of Christian burial will be Amiot obit TIF held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 10, at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Crookston with Father Dave Super officiating. Grandchildren Albert Amiot II, Julie Clarke, Sean Amiot, David Deitz, Fitzpatrick Walsh, David Paul Walsh, Christopher Amiot, Jason Amiot, Aaron Jackson, and Travis Amiot will serve as casketbearers. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to today's services.

Delia Marie LaPlante was born on July 27, 1920 in Red Lake Falls, the daughter of Fred and Melie (Fournier) LaPlante. She grew up in Red Lake Falls and attended a rural school.

On June 8, 1938, Delia was united in marriage to Alfred Amiot in Red Lake Falls. The couple farmed near Red Lake Falls and then purchased a farm near Gentilly where they farmed until their retirement in 1973. Delia cooked at the University of Minnesota, Crookston for eight years. The couple moved to Crookston and spent their winters in various locations in the south. For the past two years, they had resided at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston.

Delia was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 35 years and served as treasurer of Gentilly Township for 14 years.

She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, traveling, and helping Alfred with carpenter work.

Delia is survived by her husband, Alfred of Crookston; three sons, Albert (Dolores) of Pahrump, Nev., Harold (Mary) of Minneapolis, and Eddie (Vicki) of Walker; two daughters, Janice (Melvin) Deitz of Minneapolis and Donna (David) Ward of Raleigh, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Baptiste "Joe" (Carol) LaPlante of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Lorraine (Perry) Morrow of Spokane, Wash.; two nieces; and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Albert LaPlante. A00003B2002AP10
