Victor Ames, 83

Thief River Falls -- Victor Ames, 83, died on Friday, May 2, 1997, at Lynwood Health Care Center in Fridley.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Church in Strathcona with Reverend Robert Ludwig officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Strathcona.

Visitation was held on Tuesday at the Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, from 3 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service, and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services.

Victor Ames was born on July 4, 1913 in Huss township, Roseau County, the son of Horace and Anna (Stromlund) Ames. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended rural school in Huss township. Victor worked on the family farm and road construction work. He was united in marriage to Luella Lundquist at the Baptist Parsonage. The couple farmed in Huss township, Roseau County, and Victor also worked at road construction until retiring in 1980. Luella died in 1979 and Victor moved into Thief River Falls in 1980 and most recently to Lynwood Care Center in Fridley in November of 1996.

He is survived by his children Stanley and his wife Ann, New Richmond, WI, Marilyn Ames, Circle Pines, Vince and his wife Val, Grand Forks, ND, Delyle and his wife Darlene, Bonneau, SC; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; infant son, Maynard; sisters, Ethel Ornquist and Elsa Nelson; brothers, Felix and Reuben.
