Glendon Ahre, 88

Woodburn, OR - Glendon "Glen" E. Ahre, former Thief River Falls resident, died Friday, August 20 at the age of 88.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 28 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodburn. Interment was in Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn.

Glendon E. Ahre was born on February 15, 1911 on a farm near Astoria, SD. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1935 and then taught music in Centerville, SD and Thief River Falls.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in Europe, the Philippines and Japan. Following the war, he served briefly as the police chief in Thief River Falls. In 1949 he moved to Woodburn, OR where he was a manager for Butteville Insurance Co. and later was self-employed in security sales. He retired in 1973.

Glendon married Florence Hagmann in 1938; she died in 1992.

He served on the board and executive committee of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Glendon is survived by two sons, Theodore of Wilsonville, OR and Ronald of Tacoma, WA; and three grandchildren. A00003B1999SP08
