James Abrahamson, 77

Warren - James P. Abrahamson, 77, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.

Funeral services were held on James Abrahamson Friday, August 1 at the Alvarado Baptist Church in Alvarado with the Rev. Jon Hartman officiating. Casketbearers were Walt Hillman, Ward Wages, Jeremy Abrahamson, Chan Swensrud, Robert Anderson and Paul Wages. Honorary casketbearers were Leo Sinn and Milton Hedlund. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren with military honors accorded by the Warren American Legion Post #27.

James Paul Abrahamson was born in Minneapolis on May 8, 1926, the son of Helen Abrahamson. He grew up in Vega Township and went to school in Warren. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and was a radioman on board the Navy ship Whitesides and saw much action in the Pacific. He was discharged as a disabled veteran. After his discharge, he worked on the railroad and as a plumber in Warren while farming part of his homeplace. He then moved to Grand Forks, N.D., and was employed by Minnkota Power. Later he began working for PCA and transferred to Hallock as the manager of PCA. In retirement, he moved to Warren. On April 2, 1997, he married Eunice Bren Wages.

Survivors include nine children, Jack (Darlene) of Thief River Falls, Paul of Rock Springs, Wyo., Gay (John) Oehlke of Minneapolis, Teresa Smith of Golden Valley, Deborah (Curt) Myrfield of Warren, Warde Wages of Fargo, N.D., Mary (Rick) Thomas of Valdez, Ark., Paul (Karlene) Wages of Coon Rapids and Eleanor (Dean) Peterson of Warren; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his mother; guardian, Emily Johnson; and son, Timothy Abrahamson. A00003B2003AG06
