Spokane,
Wash. - Palmer J. Aaseby, 87, formerly of Thief
River Falls, died on Sunday, March 23, 2003 in
Spokane, Wash.
Palmer
was born on October 16, 1915, the son of Iver and
Anne Aaseby, in Thief River Falls. He graduated
from Lincoln High School and attended North Dakota
State School of Science in aviation
mechanics.
On
October 16, 1935, he married Emma M. Carlson in
Thief River Falls. He was employed by the federal
government in Ohio Wright Patterson Field and then
transferred to Hill Field in Ogden, Utah. In 1942,
he transferred to Spokane Air Depot as assistant
superintendent of engine repairs. In 1945, he
served in the 4119th AAF Search and Rescue unit in
Biloxi, Miss. Upon his discharge, he opened a front
end auto repair business, Safety Frame and Axle in
Spokane. He sold the business in 1963 and opened a
rental equipment business. This later became the
Aaseby Medical Equipment and Supply and he retired
in 1983.
Palmer
was a Past Master of N. Hill Masonic Lodge #210,
past director of Region #8 American Rental
Association & W.A.D.M.E.D., past director of
the MS Society, a member of Spokane North Rotary,
and B.P.O.E. Lodge, and Shadle Park Presbyterian
Church. He was an original member of the Flying 14
Club, a member of AOPA. He enjoyed flying,
traveling and being with his family.
Survivors
include his wife, Emma; a brother, Ralph (Betty) of
Spokane, Wash., a daughter, Janice (George)
Solandros of Chandler, Ariz., son, Wayne (Judy) of
Chattaroy, Wash.; six grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild;
and several nieces and nephews.
Palmer
was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers,
