Melvin Aase, 73, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the Good
Samaritan Center in Warren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 9 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren. Interment was in McCrea Lutheran Cemetery in rural Warren with military honors accorded by the Warren American Legion Post #27.
Melvin Elmer Aase was born in Hoople, N.D., on May 13, 1930, the son of Edwin and Sophie (Holt) Aase. He was raised in Hoople, Pisek, N.D., and Alma Township of Marshall County, where he attended school.
On August 22, 1953 he married Doris Becker in Quincy, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955. The couple made their home in Colorado. After his discharge from the Army, they moved to McCrea Township where he farmed. They later moved into Warren. Melvin also worked with his brother, Selvin, in carpet installation.
Melvin was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Warren American Legion Post #27, Warren Riverside Golf Club and Warren SnoCat Riders Club. He loved attending his grandchildren's school events and had many different hobbies, including golfing, fishing, woodworking, horseshoes and bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; daughter, Michelle (Richard) Kuzel of Angus; two grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Myrfield of Warren; brother, Selvin (Gladys) of Warren; sister-in-law, Ellen Aase of Grand Forks, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; his sister, Ethel Aase; and brother, Wallace Aase. A00003B2003AG13
