Helen Aasand, 82

Warren - Helen Aasand, 82, died Sunday, September 6, 1998 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 10 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Argyle. Interment will be in North Bigwoods Cemetery, rural Argyle.

Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service today (Wednesday, September 9) at the Quanrud-Dubore Funeral Home in Warren and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Helen Andorra Flaten was born on May 9, 1916 in Fork township of Marshall county, the daughter of Christopher and Dorthea (Barbo) Flaten. She was raised in Fork township where she attended country school.

On October 1, 1938 she as united in marriage to Lester J. Aasand at Alvarado. They made their home and farmed in Bigwoods township of Marshall county. While they continued to spend summers at the farm, they began to spend the winters in Warren in 1969. After Lester died on April 2, 1982, Helen moved to Warren. In 1986 she moved to the Landmark Center.

She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Argyle and its WMF. She enjoyed making afghans for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and doing puzzles.

Helen is survived by two sons, Leslie J. (Elizabeth) of Grafton, ND and H. Dale (Marlene) of Drayton, ND; two daughters, Bonita Ann (Ronald) McMartin of St. Thomas, ND and Inez (Wayne) Lenhart of Thief River Falls; 11 grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Andrew Flaten of Fargo, ND, Carroll Flaten of International Falls, MN and Dwight Flaten of Oslo; three sisters, Ruth Larson of Stephen, Arlette Schroeder of Pelican Rapids and Ada Lou Werre of Grand Forks, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Vernon, Clifford and Paul; and one sister, Marie Aasand.
