Walter Wolberg, 82

Grygla - Walter Wolberg, 82, died Saturday, March 27, 1999 at Ah-Gwah-Ching.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31 at St. Petri Cemetery in Grygla with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. The Larson Mortuary of International Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Walter Wolberg was born on July 14, 1916 in Grygla, the son of Lars and Anna (Johannson) Wolberg. Walter's mother died in 1917, and he was raised by the Erickson family in Grygla. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church and attended local schools.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1941 and served in North Africa, Italy and Burma. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Minnesota where he worked as a self-employed logger in the northeastern part of the state. Walter entered Ah-Gwah-Ching in 1995.

Surviving him are two nieces, including Mary Ann (David) Sjulstad of Goodridge, and several grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin Walberg; one sister, Alma in infancy; and one nephew, Coby Walberg.
