
Crookston - Farrell S. Winand, 74, died Sunday, September 19, 1999 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, Sept. 22) from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Farrell S. Bolstad was born on November 13, 1924 at Michigan, ND, the daughter of Tommy and Ethel (Thorpe) Bolstad. At the age of two, she moved with her family to Gonvick. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1942.
On March 4, 1961, Farrell was united in marriage to Robert L. Winand at Temple, TX. The couple lived in Tuckerton, NJ, Alexandria, VA, Duluth, Trail and Gonvick before moving to Crookston in 1970. Farrell had numerous jobs including cooking and bartending at the VFW, Eagles, American Legion and Elks Country Club. She also worked at Northwest Regional Correctional Center, Irishman's Shanty, Mount St. Benedict convent and Holy Family Shoppe.
Before her illness, she was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and on the board of directors of the North Country Food Bank.
Farrell is survived by her husband; Robert; two daughters, Judi (Steve) Krueger and Glynnis (Wayne) Sirjord, both of Crookston; one son, Donald (Natalie) Winand of Crookston; two sisters, Betty (Richard) Kruschke of Lakewood, CO, and Connie (James) Reich of Gonvick; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Bolstad; two sisters, Erin Seaweard and Donnis Larson; and twin grandsons, Tomas and Tavish Sirjord. A00003B1999SP22
