Stanley "Stan" Wilson, 80

Thief River Falls - Stanley "Stan" Wilson, 80, died on Saturday, July 26, 1997 at his hunting camp in Eckvoll township, Marshall County.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wedesday, July 30 at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Dennis Raymond officiating. Music will be provided by organist Ida Nordvall and soloist Joel Kezar. Visitation was held Tuesday, July 29 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services today. Casketbearers will be Tony Dorn Jr., Orren Bendickson, Pat Fisher, Mark Haugen, Lyle Hanson and Dave Peet. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Stanley Gordon Wilson was born on November 11, 1916 in Wyandotte township, Pennington County, the son of Isaac and Anna (Bergan) Wilson. He attended rural school in Wyandotte township and continued with technical schools in Bemidji and Chicago, IL. He graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. Following graduation, he returned to Thief River Falls and with his brother Woodrow began Wilson Brothers Auto and Electric and Magneto Company which later became Wilson Brothers Company. He also owned and operated Northwest Power Company for a number of years.

He was united in marriage to Myrtle Roisland on August 6, 1939 at Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls and were both active in the business until retiring. They spent the winters in Texas.

Stan was a member of United Methodist Church and active in the Chamber of Commerce and Thief River Falls Trap Club. He was an officer with the State Trap Shooting Association and had served on the Board of Directors at Northern State Bank. Stan loved the outdoors and his hunting took him on trips throughout the world.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle of Thief River Falls; one son, Sandy of Thief River Falls; four grandchildren; one brother, Andy (Mary) Wilson of San Mateo, CA; and one sister Viola Houske of Thief River Falls.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Chester, Anthony and Woodrow.
