Myrtle "Mert" Wilson, 78

Thief River Falls - Myrtle "Mert" Wilson, 78, died Thursday, May 14, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Health Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls with Reverend Dennis Raymond officiating. Special music was provided by Grace Hammer. Casketbearers were the relatives and friends in attendance. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Myrtle Roisland was born on November 24, 1919 in Pennington county, the daughter of Dreng and Mabel (Omdahl) Roisland. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school.

Myrtle was united in marriage to Stanley Wilson on August 6, 1939 in Thief River Falls. Mert and her husband, along with Stan's brother, Woodrow, began Wilson Brothers Auto Electric and Magneto Company which later became Wilson Brothers Company. Until retiring, both Mert and Stan were very active in the business. The Wilsons also owned and operated Northwest Power Company for a number of years. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls and spent the winters in Texas. Stan died on July 25, 1997.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls, the American Legion Auxiliary, Business Professional Association, Thief River Falls Trap Club and was a former member of the Thief River Falls School Board.

Mert enjoyed shooting trap and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Stan Wilson, Jr. of Thief River Falls; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one brother, Marvin (Delores) Roisland of Thief River Falls; and three sisters, Bess Lang, Vi Wettestad and Doris Roisland, all of Thief River Falls.

Mert was preceded in death by her husband, Stan; her parents; and three brothers, Oscar, Derby and Frank.
