
Thief River Falls - Kjersti Wilson, 90, formerly of Oklee and Gully, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 5, at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully with Rev. Robert Rains and Rev. George Davis officiating.
Casketbearers were grandsons Ernest Kolling, Scott Kolling, Cary Kolling, Shane Kolling, Daniel Huot, Darin Huot, Delray Huot and Dwight Huot. Honorary casketbearers were granddaughters Cindy Kolling, Carol Kolling Meyer, Ruth Kolling Podoll, Darla Huot, Denise Huot Hermreck, Denette Huot Larson, Deanne Huot Schindler, Dorene Huot Dufault and Darcy Huot. Burial was in Valle Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trail. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston was in charge of the arrangements.
Kjersti Salvhus was born on May 12, 1910 in Chester township near Oklee, the daughter of Ole and Tore (Ostenaa) Salvhus.
She was married to Bert Wilson in 1937, and the couple lived and raised their family on a farm east of Oklee. They attended Valle Lutheran Church where Kjersti was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Following Bert's death in 1971, she moved into Oklee where she resided with her sister, Anne, and brother-in-law, Ernest, until the time of their deaths. Kjersti then joined the household of Olive Kolling near Gully. During that time, she also spent time at Gladyce Huot's home near Red Lake Falls and traveled to Michigan where she spent time with Mary Laskowski. At the time of her death, she was a resident of the CNC Unit at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
She enjoyed knitting, quilting and baking bread.
Kjersti is survived by one sister, Gunhild (Godfred) Anderson of Savage, Mont.; four daughters, Olive (Calvin) Kolling of Gully, Gladyce Huot of Red Lake Falls, Mary (Dennis) Laskowski of Zionsville, Ind. and Beverly Wilson of Brooklyn Center; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; an infant daughter; one sister, Anne; and four brothers, Aslak, Jorgen "George," Knute and Tallak; and one son-in-law, Donald "Bud" Huot. A00003B2000JN07
