
River Falls, WI - Mollie Williamson, 98, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, August 4, 1998 at River Falls, WI.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 10 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Ruth Stenson was the organist, and LeRoy Aasland was the soloist. Casketbearers were Robert Carlson, Tom Williams, Paul Tangquist, Emil Vanyo, Ed Sissler and Howard Hoium. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mollie Helen Hermanson was born on March 23, 1900 near Valley City, ND, the daughter of Norwegian immigrants Jacob and Berntina Hermanson. In 1901 the family moved to Pelan near Greenbush, and ten years later they moved to Thief River Falls where Mollie lived most of her life.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1920 as salutatorian of her class. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota General Hospital, graduating in 1923 as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse in Minneapolis, Powell, WY and at the Oakland Park Sanitarium in Thief River Falls.
Mollie married Andy L. Williamson on April 6, 1929. The couple lived in Thief River Falls where Mollie took an active role in community affairs. She chaired the Preschool Roundup for 20 years and served on other health-related committees in the area. A long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also active in circle, Dorcas Society and Bible studies. She and Andy were avid sports fans who supported both the Prowlers and college teams.
Mollie is survived by her three sons, Allan (Marvel) of Neenah, WI, Bruce (Jeanine) of River Falls, WI and Daryl (Eloise) of Bloomington; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Williamson; her parents and three brothers.
